Students Work With Local Historical Society

Students in HIST 770: Archival Principles and Practice partnered with the Indiana County Historical and Genealogical Society to open unprocessed collections for public research. Students were required to appraise, preserve, re-house, and create detailed finding aids for nine collections. Subjects ranged from Indiana Stage Line Way Bills to the personal papers of leading Indiana County families to a World War I veterans’ group.

IUP’s public history program is pleased to work with the Historical Society to not only provide graduate students with practical experience but also have students make significant contributions to local history programs.
