Mary reflects on her summer internship:
This summer, I completed my internship at the Washington County Historical Society in Washington, Pennsylvania. During my internship I inventoried eight major collections including early Washington County land deeds, ledgers from the town’s First United Presbyterian Church, and the Stephens Letters’ Collection. Another interesting collection was that of the Ball-In Con Glass Packaging Company and the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics, and Allied Workers International Union. This collection contained a variety of materials including union contracts. During my time I also traveled to the Jefferson County Historical Society to assist with exhibits and preservation work. Furthermore, I provided tours to children ages 10-14 who attended Washington’s LeMoyne Center, as well as assisted with self-guided Whiskey Rebellion tours, answering visitor questions. I learned a great deal this summer and feel fortunate to have had such a varied experience during my time there.
