For their fall 2010 class project the graduate students of HIST 605 (Introduction to Public History) researched and wrote a walking tour of Sutton Hall, the oldest campus building and first site of the Indiana Normal School. Their tour replaces one originally written by faculty wives in the 1970s. Careful research done by this team of students recast the focus of the tour to not just description of the architecture and highlights of the founding of the university but also integrates a heavy focus on the development of student culture at the University since its founding in 1875. Their work will be further developed into a web-ready film to be out next year. A copy of the tour has been deposited at the IUP Archives. It is planned that future graduate classes will give the tour to the public.
